The University of Münster established the MEMO-conference to deal with an increasing demand for well-founded methodical and implementable administrative modernization tools.
Hence, we are hosting the MEMO-conference with various cooperation partners (at first with the information office d-NRW, during the last years with the German Local Authorities Confederation, German District Authority Association and Local IT-Association KDN) every year in spring since 2006. MEMO stands for "Methods and Tools for Administrative Modernization" and takes place at Münster University, Leonardo-Campus.
With its 400 participants, the MEMO-conference for leading experts and administrative staff has become one of the most visited e-government conferences in Germany. Together with diverse universities and public institutions on a state and federal level we aim to identify needs for action and solution strategies to improve the public sector's future. Our e-government research motivates us to contribute to the administrative modernization in Germany.
During the process of choosing topics and exhibitors, we focus on tools and instruments that are immediately usable and applicable for our visitors. The conference's main purpose is to open up communication channels between suppliers of modernization tools and costumers from public administrations in order to deal with correspondent problems and solution strategies.
Participants of the conference are able to attend lectures, panels and a subject-oriented fair where companies can introduce themselves and inform visitors about the conference's key topics.
The conference also includes an exhibition event where exhibitioners have the opportunity to give specialized lectures. Those lectures are supposed to be held with one of their customers together (tandem talk).
